The castle reflects different cultures and religions, but most of all is full of alchemic and masonic symbols, almost as  way to Philosopher’s stone, elixir of life and central symbol of the mystical terminology of alchemy, symbolizing perfection at its finest, enlightenment, and heavenly bliss.

The interesting thing about the construction on the Rocchetta Mattei is that there are many illusions, like a ceiling made of old newspapers which look like wood.

As any magic castle should be, it is surrounded by fairy-tale gardens that gives to this place feeling of extraordinary peace.

It was built  to be the cradle of his philosophy and scientific beliefs  which had the ambition to cure man from every evil. Maybe he did not succeed in his intention of completely healing humans , but he was definitely able to create a magical place for all of us.
