There is a legend behind the Popes Castle, one that it holds its name for, and it is that of Archangel Michael appearing on top of the building holding his sword up in the air, and thus representing the end of the plague of 590 a.d.
The Popes Castle was originally built by emperor Hadrian as mausoleum. Today, this breath-taking museum is where we will discover torture tools and machines artwork that will leave you speechless, followed by a wonderful overlook of the Vatican from the top. A century wide adventure awaits those who are brave enough to partake in it!
